Buying Music Digitally? The title of this post is a homage to an article I wrote back in 2006 as part of my frustration of really into buying music from Indonesia's top talents, but apparently can't (till today) due to a mumbo jumbo of complications. I grew pessimistic due to the fact that after almost 4 years after I wrote that article, iTunes seems to be growing swell in the international market yet made no progress in Indonesia. Nor the light does shine in the local efforts of selling music digitally, from EquinoxDMD, NexxG / dr.m, Blitz's DB Music Store, IM:Port and Kapanlagi.com's Music Store. They all seems to crash and burn or if not, diversify into the alluring RBT (Ring Back Tone) sells. From my point of view, there is no future in in this "running in circles" kind of thing. It's just too much distractions and complications, no one will survive unless they know how to survive in a giant big leap. DRM is just a bunch of bullcrap for me, it gives too... Ryan?s Christmas Mixtape 2009 First of all, I am really really sorry that this mixtape comes late. Even though I?ve started to collect and chose the songs since a couple of months ago, I got sidetracked at the near end. Hopefully I get it right time next year. And I know, the Christmas moment has a bit passed, but it?s better late than never and there?s twelve days of Christmas. The 2007?s mixtape is the first I?ve done and the 2008?s recollect my experience that year, on this 2009?s mixtape I really took time to find the songs that are quite rare, and hopefully my efforts are meaningful for you. As usual, the songs that are included in this mixtape doesn?t have any permission to be distributed and sold at all, and I didn?t had the chance to ask for one. And so, I?m sincerely apologizing my rudeness to my friends which songs are included here. But be rest assured, I bought every single releases which song belonged to, including the ones I got from advance/sample copies. And I?m urging everyone who liked the song... The so called Jazz Festival (pt.1) Saat saya menulis ini, sudah 3 minggu berturut-turut Kompas, media cetak terbesar di Indonesia membahas acara musik Jazz di halaman depan hari minggunya dan sedang mempersiapkan untuk memasukan materi-materi tersebut pada laporan akhir tahunnya. Dalam 3 minggu terakhir ini seharusnya ada 5 festival jazz yang yang diadakan di Indonesia; Ngayogjazz ke-3 di Bantul, Jazz Goes to Campus ke-32 di Depok, JakJazz ke-11 di Jakarta, Bandung World Jazz dan Solo City Jazz pertama di Bandung dan Solo. Sayangnya, pionir festival Jazz berskala Internasional, JakJazz 2009 urung dilaksanakan karena faktor sponsor. JakJazz yang digagas oleh musisi Jazz senior Ireng Maulana diselenggarakan pertama kali di tahun 1988 sampai berhenti hingga 1997, mulai hidup kembali tahun 2006 karena sebuah perusahaan rokok besar Sampoerna/Dji Sam Soe ke dalam musik Jazz, yang dipicu oleh Java Jazz di tahun 2005. Namun berbeda dengan Java Jazz yang memiliki support dari pengusaha Peter F. Gontha, JakJazz sepertinya kesulitan... 2 hari lagi. nonton NIN (lagi). opening MEW. hehe. Ode untuk Merry Merry. Saya ga pernah tau nama lengkapnya. Saya juga ga inget persis kenalnya gimana. Yang pasti saya mulai tau Merry sejak Omuniuum pindah ke Ciumbeluit dan saya mulai sering berkunjung beberapa tahun yang lalu. Tempat yang enak untuk ngobrol dan melepas kepenatan kuliah, persis di depan kampus. Yang saya tahu, Merry adalah orang yang mengurus segala hal di belakang counter. Saya baru menyadari Merry adalah pacar alm Ivan Scumbag / Burgerkill saat membaca bukunya Kimung, "Myself: Scumbag, Beyond Life and Death". Saya sempet dengan lugunya mengkonfirmasi itu dengan Mas Tri dan Boit, "Eh itu Merry yang di buku ini kan?". Semakin saya mengenal Merry, walau tidak pernah jauh lebih banyak daripada; "halo", "pulang dulu", "mana boit dan mastri?", "ini berapa mer?", dan ledekan atau cela-celaan seadanya, saya melihat banyak perubahan.
